This Week in Room 33! March 9-13


Here's what to expect this week in 5th grade:

Science- We are continuing our stations on forces and motion and will begin to discuss simple machines. 

Writing- Dr. Stryjewski has returned our argument letters and has a response for us! We will be taking our arguments up a notch this week and bring a critical perspective to our writing. Argument essays will come home on Tuesday to be shared and celebrated with families. Portfolios will be due on Friday!

Math- Our chapter 11 test on measurement is on Wed. Study guides (pgs. 883-886) are due Tue. We will begin chapter 12 on geometry after spring break and will spend some time later this week on order of operations. 

Reading- We are continuing our lessons on what good reading test takers do such as using boxes and bullets to organize main idea and details, using text features to understand nonfiction, answering questions about purpose and main idea by thinking about the whole passage, and paying close attention to step by step directions. "Connect Four to Comprehend More" assignment is due Friday! We will also begin a book review project this week that will be displayed at Concord's Family Literature Night on March 27th!
