Today we are almost done with our writing. Well, some of us. Oh it's almost spring break yahoo! All we have to do is add a front and back cover, finish our typing, and do an about the author and a bibliography and that's it!

This Week in 5th Grade! March 18-22

What to expect this week in 5th grade:

Math- We are reviewing area, perimeter, volume, data and probability. Review assignment #11 is due Friday.

Social Studies- We are beginning chapter 8 titled The War for Independence! We are discussing the importance and meaning behind the Declaration of Independence.

Reading/Writing- This week we are reviewing poetry elements as well as writing conventions such as capitalization, punctuation, spelling, and usage. In writing, we are working on publishing our expository pieces! The final product is due this Friday. The cold read "Arachne" is due Friday.

Reminders: Friday is a half day. Dismissal is at 11:50!

Buddies

Today we had buddies and did a lucky charms activity and danced to Just Dance! Some people went CRAZY . Don't forget about lit circle on Tuesday and this Sunday is the spring performance. Be there at 3:45 it starts at 4:00! :)

This Week in Room 33! March 11-15

What to expect this week in 5th grade:

Math- We are reviewing geometry and measurement this week! Practice makes perfect! Our assignment #10 is due Friday.

Social Studies- We have been practicing "close reading" where we really analyze and dissect our reading. In this case, we read about Paul Revere's Ride including an excerpt from the poem by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.

Reading- We have been working with figurative language and how it makes a text more interesting. Ask your student the differences between similes, metaphors, personification, hyperbole, and onomatopoeia. Our cold read "Montgomery Bus Boycott" is due Friday. Literature circle jobs are due every Tuesday and Friday!

Writing- We are revising our drafts and beginning to type our pieces this week! Our published piece will be due Friday, March 22! Words contract are due this Friday along with our spelling tests.

This Friday is a Half Day. Dismissal is at 11:50!

Today during the assembly Luke's parents came to Concord. From all the fundraiser s, we gave them a check. Man, we raised almost $2,000! Tue there is a Father to daughter dance starts at 6:00pm and ends at 8:00 pm!

Smath!!!!

Today during math (smath) we played the game Jeopardy! When we played Jeopardy it was a review for getting ready for the MAP test! The boys almost every time it was their turn to pick they would go in to a "football huddle". Don't forget assignment #9 is due Friday, cold read is also due Friday, and Lit Circles are tomorrow!

Principals day

Today was principals day for the Lindbergh school district! So to celebrate we made a video about the cause and effect activity we have been working on for reading. Special thanks to Caleb for thinking of the amazing idea! Don't forget our dare assignment is due next Tuesday and we have a cold read and math review #9 is due Friday. Don't forget since all of us have a grand slam for character wear your hats on Friday for our character assembly.

Cause and effect

This Week in Room 33! March 4-8

What to expect this week in 5th grade:

Math- We are reviewing all concepts learned this year in preparation for the MAP test! Review assignment #9 is due Friday.

Social Studies- We are finishing up our American Revolution videos (check them out on our Youtube channel!) and beginning SMATH! It's that time of year where we begin to practice more math during social studies time!

Reading- We are reviewing cause and effect, inferencing, and poetry this week. Literature circles are every Tuesday and Friday! The cold read "Odysseus and Polyphemus" is due this Friday.

Writing- We are continuing our expository drafts and adding in text features! Some students may need to do some drafting at home (they know who they are!) Drafts need to be completed this week. We will be analyzing and revising our drafts next week! Our new words contract is due Friday, March 15th along with our spelling tests.

This Week's MAP Words are VALUE and SEQUENCE!

Mother/Son Dance is TONIGHT from 6-8!
