This Week in Room 33! March 3-7

I hope everyone enjoyed their snow day! It's back to work for us in 5th grade! Here's what to expect for this short week:

Math- We are finishing up probability using proportions, finding the volume of a solid figure, naming solid figures using nets, and graphing ordered pairs. Assignment #8 is due Friday. Morning work word problems will also be due Friday.

Science- This week, we are working with partners to research and create a brochure on one of the planets. We are becoming experts on using our Google drive!

Reading- Our final literature circle meeting will be Thursday (the "Fever" group will be meeting on Friday). We are continuing to review strategies/skills such as main idea, cause/effect, compare/contrast, predictions, etc. as we meet in small guided reading groups. We are also putting to use our close reading strategies.

Writing- We are beginning our NEW unit on persuasive/argument writing! We are collecting information on BOTH sides of an argument, flash drafting, and using evidence to build arguments. Why do you think it's important to know both sides of an argument in order to write a good persuasive piece?

Reminders:
Fri. 3/7- Half day, dismissal is at 11:50!
Fri. 3/14- Half day
3/17-3/21 Spring Break!
