What to expect this week in 5th grade:

Math- We are continuing our study of Unit 4 on division! We will be interpreting remainders in word problems, using patterns in division, and dividing by 2-digit divisors.

Science- We have our vocabulary quiz on Tuesday (tomorrow!) Students are encouraged to study from their notebooks and/or can use the Quizlet flashcards found in the science page of this blog! The quiz covers 13 vocabulary words that they will need to match to the definitions. They will also need to list the 7 steps of the scientific method in order! Don't forget- "Outside People Hope Every Day is Clear not Cloudy!" (Observation, Problem, Hypothesis, Experiment, Data, Conclusion, Communicate)

Reading- We will be focusing on making inferences this week! Good readers and thinkers do this automatically without even realizing! Ask your student what it means to infer! Literature circles will meet on Wednesday! Students should have read their assigned pages and completed their lit. circle sheet to use during their book club discussion.

Writing- We are busy revising our personal narratives and using strategies like adding scenes from the past and future and resolving problems and learning lessons in our stories' endings.
Words contracts are due this Friday and spelling tests are also this Friday!
