This Week in Room 33! Jan. 7-11

Happy 2013 to you and welcome back! It was so nice to see your students last Thursday and Friday for our very short week back to school! :)

Here is what to expect this week in 5th grade:

Math- We are working on chapter 15 on fractions. Students received their first 25 question review assignment last Friday. These will be handed out each Friday and due the following Friday (similar to our cold reads). These review assignments ARE graded each week and will be a part of their math grade. These assignments are extremely beneficial as we prepare for our comprehensive MAP test.

Social Studies- We are discussing the middle and southern colonies.

Reading- In reading we will focus on visualizing and the story elements of characters, setting, plot, problem, and solution. We will also have our literature circles continue and guided reading groups. The cold read titled "The Boy Who Didn't Know Fear" is due Friday.

Writing- I will be conferencing with individuals this week to discuss our narrative writings from 2nd quarter. We will also begin our unit on expository writing.

Early Release is this Wednesday!

Don't forget to check our blog daily for student posts!

Have a fantastic week. :)
