Veterans Day Message:

What to expect this week...

Science- We are wrapping up our study on Earth's spheres with a shared Google slides project:



Writing- We will finish up our 1st research report on our Westward Expansion topics and begin publishing. Check out the writing tab to see the writing checklists we use in class and to assess our work. We will celebrate our finished pieces next week

Math- We are continuing chapter 5 this week- adding and subtracting decimals! Our test will be next Tuesday, 11/7.

Reading- We are continuing our work on reading complex nonfiction, identifying main idea/supporting details and summarizing.

This Week in Room 33! Oct. 23-26


Looking forward to seeing everyone this week at our student-led conferences! (Mon. and Wed.)

We will be heading to the Sheldon this Tuesday to see the Jazz Story. We will leave at 9:00 and return by 11:45.



    What to expect this week in 5th grade...

    Science- We are continuing our study on Earth's Systems. We are working towards being able to describe ways the geosphere, biosphere, hydrosphere, and atmosphere interact.

    Writing- We will begin revising our Westward Expansion research reports and learn how writers of history pay attention to geography, how we write to think, and how to draw on an awareness of timelines.

    Reading- We will continue to focus on reading complex nonfiction texts as we uncover what makes a main idea complex, strategies for determining implicit main ideas, and using context to determine meaning of vocabulary.

    Math- We are diving into chapter 5 this week- adding and subtracting decimals!
