This Week in Room 33! 3/31 - 4/4

Here's what to expect this week in 5th grade:

We are beginning our "MAP Prep. Intense Switches" this week! For the next 3 weeks, in the morning, students are spending about 30 min. in each 5th grade classroom to review for the MAP test. We are covering math, science, and communication arts topics, learning from different teachers, and having FUN while working HARD! In the afternoons we are continuing our guided reading groups, starting new literature circles, and continuing with our persuasive writing unit.

Reminders:
Spelling tests will be this Friday 4/4
Math assignment #11 is due this Friday 4/4
Wear your Cardinals red on Monday for the home opener!
Fri. 4/11 will be another Cardinals day with a special assembly!

Simple Machines Power Point


This Week in Room 33! 3/24-28

I hope everyone had a wonderful spring break! :)

What to expect this week in 5th grade:

Math- We are continuing our review of past concepts including fractions, decimals, algebraic relationships, geometry, and measurement! Assignment #10 is due Friday as well as the morning work math sheet (if students don't finish the assigned numbers during morning work, they should finish at home so it is completed and turned in on Friday).

Science- We are starting a new unit on simple machines!

Reading- Our focus this week will be on poetry elements and author's purpose. "Arachne" cold read is due Friday. Students should use their close reading strategies ("reading with a pencil").

Writing- We are continuing our persuasive unit by choosing our own argument topics to develop into a persuasive essay.We will be note-taking and researching this week!

Reminders:

Be on the look out for report cards! They will be emailed to you on Wednesday.
Friday is Concord Spirit Day- wear your Concord/Lindbergh gear or green and gold!
March Home Run Club will be on Friday!
