This Week in Room 33! Oct 27-31

Here’s what to expect this week in fifth grade:

This week is Red Ribbon Week!  Don't forget to dress according to each day's theme!

Science- This week we will be finishing our unit on weather by learning about climate.  Our unit test will be the first week of November.

Writing- We will continue our work on historical informational (nonfiction) writing.  Our first piece of writing will focus on a Native American tribe of each student’s choosing.  At this point, each student should have chosen a tribe and began researching.

Word Work- The students received their words last week for their next spelling test and will be working on their contract this week.  Their test will be on the first Thursday or Friday of November.

Math- After two more days of review, we will have our division unit test on Wednesday.  Students should continue to practice their basic multiplication and division facts at home!

Reading- We have completed our unit on characters in fictional books and will begin a series of lessons on pulling out main ideas and supporting details in non-fiction works.  Students should be reading at least 20 min. a night with a goal of completing a book about every 1-2 weeks! Thank you for your continued encouragement and support at home!

Social Studies- Students will complete a Native American project on the tribe they have chosen for their writing research report. ClickHERE for more details! Students will be building models of their chosen tribes’ living structures (teepee, wigwam, etc.) at home. The due date will be
Wed. Nov. 5th!

*Oct. 30- Pumpkin Run, Fall Festival, Halloween Parties
