This Week in Room 33! May 19-23

I cannot believe we have only 2 weeks left of 5th grade! I am cherishing these last days with them before they head off to middle school! Here's what to expect this week:

Math- We are finishing up our last lessons in preparation for 6th grade. There will NOT be a test. We are dividing fractions, learning the parts of a circle, and graphing integers on a coordinate grid! Please remind your student to return the math textbook this week!

Science- We are completing a compound machines project. I can't wait to see the finished products!

Social Studies- States and capitals quiz will be on Friday!

Reading- Our last literature circles will be on Thursday. I can't wait to hear about the endings, resolutions, and final thoughts on our books! Students will be asked to choose a favorite book that they read this year to share with the class. They will get to do a book talk next week and present why they loved that book! In the end, students will have a list of book recommendations for the summer!

Parents, check out THIS website on how to encourage your kids to continue to love reading! I hope your student continues to read for fun this summer- this is my favorite time of year to curl up with a good book! The St. Louis public libraries also have fun summer programs- check it out HERE and click HERE for the teen page.

Writing-We are finishing up our poetry anthologies this week!
