I really cannot believe we have made it to the last week of 5th grade! I am going to miss this class SO much!!! We have a lot of fun end-of-year things happening this week- here's what to expect:
Tuesday- Fun Day and Hat Day! Please wear something comfortable and something you don't mind getting wet! Students may also want to bring extra clothes to change into since our Fun Day activities are in the morning!
Wednesday- We will be participating in some surprise activities in the morning (students have to wait to pop the next 6th grade countdown balloon to find out!) Also, we will have an end-of-year pizza party at lunch!
Thursday- More fun surprise activities and packing up our desks/cubbies! During "Fly Up" time, 5th graders will get to go out for an extra recess at the end of the day as I meet the new, upcoming 5th graders!
Friday- Last day of school and half day! There will be NO lunch served. We will have our last Home Run Club of the year!
Other activities this week:
*We will be celebrating our poetry anthologies in the afternoon as well as all our other published writing from the entire year. I can't wait for students to bring these home to share with you!
*Students have been asked to prepare a book talk. We will present these throughout the week! Ask your child what book they have chosen to share and how they are presenting it to the class. Be on the lookout for a summer reading list by the end of the week with student recommendations!
Parents, check out THIS website on how to encourage your kids to continue to love reading! I hope your student continues to read for fun this summer- this is my favorite time of year to curl up with a good book! The St. Louis public libraries also have fun summer programs- check it out HERE and click HERE for the teen page.
