Math- We are reviewing Mon. and Tue. for our Unit 3 test on Wed. This test will cover multiplying whole numbers and decimals (chapters 7-8). Students can study using their practice sheets in binder, online textbook, and the math videos found in the math homework page of this blog! Our next unit is on dividing whole numbers and decimals. Please practice with your student on basic fact recall for multiplication and division- practice makes perfect!!!
Science- We are continuing to study weather in science! We will be conducting an anemometer investigation to find out where the wind speed is greatest at Concord: front of the building, side of the building, or in the courtyard. What is your hypothesis? Do you have the weather channel app on your device? Encourage your student to use it to track weather data each day!
Reading- We are continuing to discuss story elements with a focus on plot development. We will use a plot diagram or story arc to discus the different parts of a story. We will make connections to writing since we are writing narratives! We are also beginning literature circles this week! I could not be more excited for reading this week! Do you participate in book clubs? Tell your student about your experiences. Their literature circles are just like real-world book clubs!
Writing- Last week we focused on generating ideas for personal narrative writing. This week, we will look through all of our entries and choose one seed idea that we would like to flash-draft, revise, edit, and publish! I cannot wait to see our seed ideas grow into our absolute BEST writing! We will discuss how writers draft and re-draft, make sure our writing has a plot, and continue to elaborate on the most important parts.
