This Week in Room 33! Nov. 4-8

What to expect this week in 5th grade:

Math- We are finishing up our study of division! Our Unit 4 test will be on Thursday. Students can use homework sheets in binder, videos on blog, and the textbook to study!

Science- We are continuing our study of weather with a focus on the water cycle.

Reading- This week we are continuing to work on inferencing especially in poetry. We are also discussing different types of figurative language such as similes, metaphors, personification, and alliteration!

Writing- We are using a mentor narrative to help push our writing to the next level! We are working on stretching out the problem or tension, catching the action or image that produces emotion, giving each character a specific role, and using mentor sentences to study commas and other punctuation.

*This week marks the start of Adopt-a-Family! We have already brought in over 20 items and raised almost $30 today with Jingles for Jammies! Way to go! Continue to bring in items- it's all for a great cause and we have some competitive kiddos in our class that are striving to be the top class!

Reminders:
Mon., Nov. 11- Veteran's Day Assembly at 9
Wed., Nov. 13- Early Release

A BIG thank you to Blase's mom and ALL the parents that came to the Halloween party- we had SO much FUN!!!!! :)
