What to expect this week in 5th grade:
Math- We are reviewing geometry and measurement this week! Practice makes perfect! Our assignment #10 is due Friday.
Social Studies- We have been practicing "close reading" where we really analyze and dissect our reading. In this case, we read about Paul Revere's Ride including an excerpt from the poem by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.
Reading- We have been working with figurative language and how it makes a text more interesting. Ask your student the differences between similes, metaphors, personification, hyperbole, and onomatopoeia. Our cold read "Montgomery Bus Boycott" is due Friday. Literature circle jobs are due every Tuesday and Friday!
Writing- We are revising our drafts and beginning to type our pieces this week! Our published piece will be due Friday, March 22! Words contract are due this Friday along with our spelling tests.
This Friday is a Half Day. Dismissal is at 11:50!
Have a fantastic week!
-Mrs. Schaefer :)
