Tracking our Literature Discussions!

Today we got into our lit circles and discussed some questions that our group questionair asked us. We had a tracker, who marked the flow of the discussion. Soon we ended up with a shape, which shows that we had a BIG conversation!

This Week in Room 33! 4/7-4/11

What to expect this week in 5th grade:

We are continuing our MAP Prep. switches among all 5th grade teachers for math, science, and communication arts in the morning each day this week. Math assignment #12 is due Friday. Morning work math problems will also be due Friday.

In the afternoons, we are continuing with reading and writing instruction.

In reading, we are meeting in guided reading groups and reviewing all reading strategies and skills we have learned this year! Literature circles will be on Thursday. Students should have their reading assignment completed and be ready to discuss with their group members. We will have a new system for tracking the discussion to make sure all group members are contributing equally to the conversation.

In writing, we will be finishing our draft, revising, editing, and publishing. Our published persuasive essays are due Friday for our author's celebration!

Reminders:

Monday AND Friday will be Cardinals Days!
Please be on the lookout for an email from me regarding our MAP schedule and other MAP reminders! I am SO excited for these kids to show what they know- we ARE ready!!!! :) :)
